Onam

Onam is a 10-day Hindu harvest festival that culminates with a feast. Onam is celebrated by Hindu people all over the world, but the festival originated with the Malayali people in the Kerala region of India. Onam is primarily a Hindu festival, but it’s sometimes observed as a cultural event by other Indians who are not Hindu. When is Onam? Onam takes place over a period of 10 days during the month of Chingam. The timing of the festival is based on the Malayalam calendar, which is a solar and sidereal calendar, and so the dates shift from year to year. In 2021, Onam will take place from August 12–23. In 2022, Onam will take place from August 30 to September 9.
